Slay the Spire 2 Best Cards Tier List 2026: Every Common and Rare Ranked
The complete 2026 tier list for every card in Slay the Spire 2: best commons, best rares, best per character, and the cards that win runs.
This is the complete 2026 tier list for every common and rare card in Slay the Spire 2. We cover the best cards for each character, the cards that win runs, and the underdrafted cards that most players skip.
This is a companion guide to our Slay the Spire 2 starter builds article: that article covers the first-3-cards strategy, this article covers the deeper tier rankings for the entire card pool.
Tier ranking system
We use the same five-tier system as our weapon tier lists:
- S tier - the cards that win runs on their own
- A tier - strong cards that win runs with the right support
- B tier - solid cards that fit specific builds
- C tier - niche cards that only work in specific builds
- D tier - avoid if you have a choice
Tiers reflect the average power of a card across all runs in which it is picked up. A C-tier card in the right build can outperform an S-tier card in the wrong one.

How to use this tier list
The tier list is a starting point, not a rule. The most important thing is to find cards that fit your current draft. If you are building a strength deck for the Ironclad, an S-tier poison card for the Silent is not worth picking up.
The key principle: pick cards that win runs, not cards that are theoretically strong in isolation. A 5-card deck of B-tier cards that work together will outperform a 20-card deck of mixed-tier cards that have no plan.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the single best card in Slay the Spire 2?
It depends on the character, but for the Ironclad, the single strongest card is Limit Break (rare), which doubles your strength. For the Silent, it is Catalyst (rare), which doubles the poison on a target. For the Defect, the single strongest card is Echo Form (rare), which plays your first card twice each turn. Each of these can solo-win a run with the right support.
Should I pick up colorless cards in Slay the Spire 2?
Yes. The colorless card pool contains some of the strongest cards in the game. Apotheosis (upgrades all cards in hand) is the single highest value colorless rare. Hand of Greed (gain gold equal to damage dealt) is one of the strongest colorless commons for the Ironclad. Do not ignore colorless card rewards.
What is the most underrated card in Slay the Spire 2?
Iron Wave for the Ironclad and Heel Hook for the Silent. Iron Wave is a common that deals 5 damage and gains 5 block for 1 energy. It is the single most efficient block card in the early game. Heel Hook is a Silent common that deals 8 damage and draws 1 card, replacing itself in your discard pile. Both cards are underrated because new players underestimate the value of card draw.
How many rares should I take per Slay the Spire 2 run?
Target 5-7 rares by the end of the run. Most successful runs have 5-7 rares and 18-22 commons/uncommons. Going above 8 rares usually means you are skipping too many commons, which weakens your early game. Going below 4 rares means you are missing the strongest scaling cards in the game.
Should I restart if my first few card rewards are bad?
No. Slay the Spire 2 has a balanced card pool, and even weak first rewards will produce a workable deck with the right picks. Restarting only makes sense if you have taken fundamentally misaligned cards (e.g., focusing on poison when your relics support frost orbs).
